The CFC Regular Chess Post Sept. 7/12 IM Eric Hansen On Verge of GM!
In round 10 ( second last round ) against Sweden today, Friday, Sept. 7, IM Eric Hansen of Alberta, playing 4th board for Canada at the Chess Olympiad, needs to play against an opponent rated 2490 or higher to achieve the GM title! Sweden's lowest rated player is 2503. So as long as Eric and his opponent show up and they make the first move, he will become Canadas 5th active GM who plays for Canada ( behind Spraggett, Sambuev, Charbonneau, & Roussel-Roozmon ).
