    Default Changes to Tournament Details

    Changes to Tournament Details

    Due to circumstances beyond our control, Canadian Chess Consulting Service ( CCCS ) advises that its 8-player FIDE Rating round robin, " The Battle of Toronto Invitational ", will not be held at Scarborough Chess Club, as advertised originally. It is seeking a new venue. This may involve a change of the weekday evening of the tournament ( was originally to be on Thursday evening ) - we are attempting to get a venue available Monday nights, which would make the dates:
    - October 15, 22, 29;
    - November 5, 12, 19, 26;
    - Make-Up Dates: December 3, 10.

    In this case, there would also be a modest increase in the registration fee, to cover increased site/equipment costs. We anticipate that this will not be confirmed until Thursday, August 30. Thus we will be extending the registration period to Monday, Sept. 3.

    Pre-registrations:
    Non-FIDE-rated pool - 5 registrations for 4 spaces;
    FIDE-rated pool - 2 registrations ( one to be confirmed ); 2 vacancies available.

    Since this is an invitational, the registrations are conditional on acceptance. Final choices will be made as follows:

    - if by Sept. 3, we have the same no. of registrants as places in the pool, then all will be accepted.
    - if by Sept. 3, we have more registrations than places in the pool, then the choice will be based on the ratings that make the tournament most competitive, and that give the most opportunity to non-FIDE players to get a part-result.

    A FIDE Rating Round Robin of 8 players must have 4 FIDE-rated players to be registered and to be FIDE-rated. So we invite FIDE-rated players under 2200 to enter, as we still have 2 vacancies. Without these registrations, the tournament will not go ahead.

    Decisions will be made as soon after Sept. 3 as possible, and all will be notified if their registration has been accepted or not.

    We apologize for the inconvenience.
