D. Vote on Making October Quarterly Meeting Public

To date, only CFC On-line AGM’s have been public viewing. The last time there was a vote to open the quarterly on-line meetings, it was defeated. So this Budget Meeting is still “ confidential “ , not open to the members/public. However, with the experience of the AGM, it may be governors’ fears are no longer what they were, and the voting outcome may be different this time. So you will see Item 8 re-raises opening the 2012 Fall Quarterly Meeting ( Oct. 1 ). Summaries of the Meeting will be made available in due course, and posted on the CFC Website. Also, the FQE Governors made some clarification amendments to the joint executive draft of the agreement, originally approved by the CFC Governors. This has necessitated a second vote by the governors on the agreement – some have maintained that the amendments do not change the substance of the particular items – if so, then members can likely expect the governors to approve the revised agreement. The agreement is a major step forward for Canadian chess, in the opinion of the CFC Governors, and brings the CFC and FQE into a new partnership in governing chess in Canada.
