Default Chesscanada.info now supports PGN files!

You can now use a built-in PGN viewer in this forum.

    This:

    [PGN]
[Event "IBM Kasparov vs. Deep Blue Rematch"]
    [Site "New York, NY USA"]
    [Date "1997.05.11"]
    [Round "6"]
    [White "Deep Blue"]
    [Black "Kasparov, Garry"]
    [Result "1-0"]

    1.e4 c6 2.d4 d5 3.Nc3 dxe4 4.Nxe4 Nd7 5.Ng5 Ngf6 6.Bd3 e6 7.N1f3 h6 8.Nxe6 Qe7 9.O-O fxe6 10.Bg6+ Kd8 {Kasparov shakes his head} 11.Bf4 b5 12.a4 Bb7 13.Re1 Nd5 14.Bg3 Kc8 15.axb5 cxb5 16.Qd3 Bc6 17.Bf5 exf5 18.Rxe7 Bxe7 19.c4 1-0
    [/PGN]

    Will look like this:

    [Event "IBM Kasparov vs. Deep Blue Rematch"] [Site "New York, NY USA"] [Date "1997.05.11"] [Round "6"] [White "Deep Blue"] [Black "Kasparov, Garry"] [Result "1-0"] 1.e4 c6 2.d4 d5 3.Nc3 dxe4 4.Nxe4 Nd7 5.Ng5 Ngf6 6.Bd3 e6 7.N1f3 h6 8.Nxe6 Qe7 9.O-O fxe6 10.Bg6+ Kd8 {Kasparov shakes his head} 11.Bf4 b5 12.a4 Bb7 13.Re1 Nd5 14.Bg3 Kc8 15.axb5 cxb5 16.Qd3 Bc6 17.Bf5 exf5 18.Rxe7 Bxe7 19.c4 1-0

There is a PGN button on your "advanced mode" editor screen.

Also, the viewer supports FEN descriptions in the PGN of the starting position, and it will also display multiple games with a drop-down menu, rather than having to make a new viewer window for each game.

I made it a bit bigger and picked some nicer colours too.

The PGN diagrams + moves are now too big for me to see the whole board or all of the notes & moves on at least my own computer, Chris.

I'm still playing with it a bit, probably will go with about 2/3 of the current size, maybe 3/4. Have to head out for a bit though.

P.S. Get a bigger monitor sometime

Alternately, use ctrl- or ctrl+ to change the zoom level.

Thanks John. Worked well, though for some reason my using ctrl- and then ctrl+ temporarily added a scroll slide bar to the bottom of this thread on my monitor, at least until I finished editing my PGN post a bit more.

[edit: I think I may have hit ctrl+ twice; that would explain it]

There, how's that? Still fairly big but not obnoxiously big anymore.

It's almost okay for my monitor size, although at the current PGN diagram display size you've chosen, some of the text of the header words and notes of the Deep Blue game have just been barely cut off from view on the right hand side on my monitor screen.

You could downsize it again, ever so slightly, for my sake, although I can get by instead by using ctrl- as John suggested. Up to you, Chris. Don't know how many people still use old monitors like I do.
