At the Annual Meeting forum, I saw deadline times stated as EST. We're used to East-centrism, but why use Standard Time? Shouldn't it be EDST ?

I agree with you Jonathan! Also since the meeting WAS to have been held on the WEST COAST why not use BC Time (best coast time)
