Congratulations to the CYCC Organizing Committee for substantially exceeding the pre-YCC qualification system average of 150 players. You may not reach the 2011 CYCC total of Richmond Hill, Ont., but neither are you in the centre of the country.

Good organizing and hope you have a most successful tournament, that determines worthy Canadian champions to go to the WYCC in November.

Asking parents to take two weeks of vacation to make it to both tournaments is a bit much for all but a few families. I know that you got one family from Windsor. Melissa Lee is attending the CYCC for the last time as a player and is staying on for the Canadian Open and will be joined by brother Brendon and father Frank.

The Ontario kids will have a challenge to deal with the three hour time difference at the CYCC. Most of the kids from Windsor are pretty young and about half of them will experience the CYCC as only their second major CFC tournament after the OYCC. The format of the CYCC is relatively kid friendly. The same cannot be said for most Canadian Opens. The challenge is that if you make it too kid friendly it becomes adult unfriendly, especially for the adults that are local and expect to play without using up vacation days.
