I would have to say the decisive event in the tournament was Caruana's Rd8 win over Vladimir Kramnik, on the white side of a Ruy Lopez (Berlin). Kramnik was among 4 players tied for third, one half point behind the leaders.

The Golden Classic finished yesterday, with Vassily Ivanchuk remaining in the lead, with 5 out of 6, followed by Gata Kamsky, one half point behind.
