    Default Chess Olympiad - Canada

    In Rd. 1, facing # 13, India, Canada ( # 48 ) didn't fare too badly, losing 2.5 - 1.5 ( Bluvshtein, Zugic, and Noritsyn drew; Charbonneau lost; rest day for Roussel-Roozman ).

In Rd. 1 for the women, Canada ( # 53 ) played Cuba ( # 25 ) and lost 3.5 - .5 ( Yuan drew; Khoudgarian, Kagramanov and Smith lost, rest day for Barron ).

Default Rd. 2 - In Progress - National Team

Rd. 2 in progress ( 11:56 AM ): National Team

Bluvshtein ( on Bd. 1 ) is up a P, and appears to be threatening to go up a second P.
The other three boards ( Zugic; Roussel-Roozman; Noritsyn ) still seem relatively equal to this patzer.

Default Rd. 2 - In Progress - National Team

    ( 2:25 PM ) - Canada's national team is leading Bolivia 3-0 ( Zugic; Roussel-Roozman and Noritsyn have won ).

In Bluvshtein's Bd. 1 game, Zambrana is up a passed P. Each has R + B ( opposite colours ) + a P ( Zambrana has 2 P's ). Seems to me it is a possible draw, though Mark is down a P, because of the opposite coloured B's. But hard to call because a set of R's are still on. Maybe a stronger player can give his/her opinion on this at this point.

In Rd. 2, Bluvshtein drew the last game, a pawn down. So Canada's national team defeats Bolivia 3.5 - .5, the same score the women's team got against Costa Rica.

In Rd. 3 the pairings are:

    Open - Bd. 37. Jamaica ( # 105 - 2 MP ) vs Canada ( # 48 - 2 MP )

    Women's - Bd. 40. Fiji ( # 98 - 2 MP ) vs Canada ( # 53 - 2 MP )

The Canadian teams are substantially stronger. We should hope for good results tomorrow.

Default Making the CFC Chess Forum Relevant

    Hi Bob:

Glad to do it - it is partly because I believe that people must post here, things that can't be found on ChessTalk, or at least in a somewhat different format with perhaps some different details, if the CFC Chess Forum is to remain active and relevant. That's why it is great when you and some of the Governors post things here that are not on ChessTalk. It gives people a reason to check the site, if they know there will be something new.

I wish Governors would post more replies and start new threads, on things that are lively on their own private discussion board. It would give members a chance to reply to their ideas, and give the governors input and feedback on CFC issues. This would truly make this a Canadian chess site of interest and value.
