WCM Alexandra Botez, 15 years old, a Canadian living in Oregon, USA, won the USA All-Girls National Tournament ( U 18 ) in Chicago, Illinois, held April 8 – 10. This is a tournament organized by the Kasparov Chess Foundation, and sponsored by USCF and for the last 4 years University of Texas in Dallas has been awarding a scholarship for the top place in under 18 section valued at $105,000. There were 20 players, with Alexandra ranked #4. She finished with 4 wins and 2 draws. Alexandra is #1 in U16 Girls in Canada, and current CYCC Champion in U16 Girls. This is the first time for a dual champion for both Canada and USA.
