    Default First 2 Days Completed

The CFC Governors' Winter Quarterly On-line Meeting is now in its third day, and over 50 percent of the governors are in attendance ( it was scheduled initially as a 7-day meeting ).

Debate was light but steady on the weekend, but the pace has picked up markedly on this first weekday. Numbers of motions, and possible amendments to the motions, are being actively debated.

It is my hope that Motion 2011-F will be passed, which will open these meetings up to public viewing, so members can see their governors in action - but there has been negligible debate on this issue so far. If you want the meetings open, contact your local CFC Governor, and let them know you want them to vote in favour of Motion 2011-F ! And post here also that you want the meetings on a " public view-only " basis in future.

Bob, GTCL/Ont. CFC Governor, Mover of Motion 2011-F

    Default Open On-line Governor Meetings?

The confidentiality aspect of the Governors' On-line Meetings has been reiterated by the CFC Secretary, and all governors have been reminded not to make posts revealing details of the meetings.

Summaries of the meetings are posted after the meetings in the GL's or separately in the list of GL's. They are the extent to which information is available on the proceedings.

I, with seconder Manitoba governor Ken Einarsson, have filed Motion 2011-F to open the meetings on a " public view-only basis " and I have previously posted it publicly on this board, at the time it was filed. If you think this is a good idea, contact your local governor to vote in favour of this motion.

I see the past president and Life Governors category pulled down the percentage. The percentage of elected governors was quite high.

    Hi Ken:

I seem to remember musing somewhere at some time that life governors with a vote for eternity were a problem.

Bob: I'm surprised you haven't reintroduced the amended motion for eliminating inactive Life Governors from the fall meeting. It is obvious the vast majority of Governors were in favour of it.

    Hi Fred:

Les had mumbled last meeting about the fact that it should be brought back at some point - though he didn't say by whom. Do you think I shouldn't wait for him to launch the new motion?

Anyway, I'm not really happy with the amended motion - I think " vote for life " is abysmal. I'll let someone who really likes it and supports it bring it back.

    Bob
