“The Knights of Chess” club presents (a GTCL event):

TORONTO CLOSED CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP 2011

January 23 - March 6

This will be an eight player round-robin tournament comprising of the eight highest rated players who apply. In addition there will be up to 5 reserve sections according to the CFC rating.

The deadline for entries will be 6 PM Sunday, January 16, 2011 at “The Knights of Chess” club located on 5635 Younge street, suites 201-202, Toronto (near Younge and Finch intersection), where the draw for positions will take place. Championship section will be CFC and FIDE rated, and reserve sections will be CFC rated. CFC membership is required.

Drinks and snacks will be provided.

Schedule: Games will be played on consecutive Sundays at 10 AM at “The Knights of Chess” club
(Finch subway station TTC parking is free on Sundays)

Time control:
Championship: 90 minutes for the game with 30 seconds increment from the first move.
Reserve sections: 90 minutes for the game

Entry fee: $85 (cash or check payable to Vladimir Birarov) by 6 PM, January 16, 2011.

Prizes:
Championship (95% of entry fees)
1st - $320 & Trophy
2nd - $200
3rd - $120

Reserve sections (75% of entry fees).
($20 administration costs could be paid by Chess Clubs for their representatives).

Draw for positions is done today. Gladly we have very strong "Championship" section , sadly only 5 players registerd into "Reserved" one . We decided to go ahead with 5 players RR, but we'll very happy to find additional player before tournament start (nex Sunday, Jan 23, 10 AM). If you're interested to play in it (avg CFC 2034, FIDE 1990), please let me know ASAP. "Reserved" section will also be FIDE rated.
