In any case, one thing that maybe is not clear for you Jack: BCCF is volunteer based, that means if you don't like something or you want to do it better, you are more than welcome. You can organize "Vancouver Junior Chess Championship" every year. After you do that, get ready for the praise and also for critique. All the organizers I know in BC have day jobs, families to take care, when they organize something they are spending their own time and money for something they enjoy. I really look forward to read on CFC website: "Jack Qian - Volunteer of the Year"!

Don't you know there are no Fide rated junior tournaments in BC when you live in Vancouver?
Why are there many Fide rated tournaments in ON and AB, not in BC?

And again, you can organize any time a Junior FIDE event in BC, with entry fee same as in Alberta or even free.

Thumbs up Re: Toronto junior chess championship 2010 (FIDE rated)

I am very glad to announce that Toronto Junior Chess Championship for year 2010 starts this Sunday, Nov 14.
Seven strong juniors (average CFC rating - 2177) will contend for the title:
    Roman Sapozhnikov
    Michael Kleinman
    Nikita Gusev
    Michael Song
    Jesse B Wang
    Alexandru Florea
    Mike Ivanov

I'd like to use this opportunity for inviting you to visit “The Knights of Chess” club (5635 Yonge street, suites 201-202, Toronto, M2M 3S9). Here you will get to observe exiting games between some of our best juniors, to play, in completely separate room, casual games or blitz tournament (if enough players willing to do that). Casual games will be available on Sundays, from 10 AM till 1:30 PM for $5 per day. Entry fee for blitz tournament is extra.

    See you on Sunday.
