Gary Gladstone Former CFC Governor and Chess Dad seeking Federal Office

Gary Gladstone, CFC Governor 2007-2010 is the Federal Liberal Candidate for Thornhill in the upcoming election. Gary was an active participant on the Chess scene as “Chess Dad” from 2001 – 2013, as his son Simon was an active youth engaged in Chess And Math and CFC tournaments.
Gary was also the Team Captain for the Canadian Youth Under 16 Chess Olympiad in Turkey (2010) and Assistant Head of Delegation to the WYCC in Brazil (2011).


Active in the Chess community, he also organized a fundraiser for the Canadian Chess Olympiad in 2008 sponsored by UMBRA, Chess Institute of Canada and the CFC.


After graduating from the University of Waterloo Gary entered the family business. Several years later, after helping it grow and expand he decided to pursue one of his passions, community service. He took on progressive responsibilities in major community organizations. It was both rewarding and fulfilling.
Gary then decided to return to the private sector where he put his business and community experience to work forming a company that helped charities and organizations raise money and deal with government.

Professionally Gary has helped charities and non-profit community organizations raise millions of dollars to further the work of religious institutions of many faiths, youth programs and programs for the developmentally challenged.
Gary understands how government works and how to be an effective advocate.
Gary understands first hand the benefits of Chess, especially for youth and at-risk communities.
Governments make choices that impact on people and businesses. Gary wants to represent our community and bring a common sense perspective to Ottawa. His goal as the next Member of Parliament for Thornhill is to advocate for our fair share of government funding, maintain a fair tax balance, ensure a stable social safety net, promote Chess across the country, support charities and non-profits, particularly those assisting individuals with developmental disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorder, while helping to grow our local and national economy.
