This is the second tournament under Elevate My Chess Canada. It is open for registration now. We will most probably hold this tournament on a yearly basis.

2018 Ontario Junior Chess Championship

Location & Dates

When: Saturday, January 27th – Sunday, January 28th, 2018

Where: Erindale United Church, 1444 Dundas Crescent, Mississauga, Ontario

Format

Type: 5 Round Swiss. CFC rated & FIDE rated for Open and U-1800. CFC membership is required.

Type: 5 Round Swiss. CFC rated for U-1300. CFC membership is required.

Sections: OPEN, U-1800 and U-1300

Rd 1: Jan 27 – 9:30am; Rd 2: Jan 27 – 2:00pm; Rd 3: Jan 27 – 6:30pm; Rd 4: Jan 28 – 1:00pm; Rd 5: Jan 28 – 5:30pm

Play Offs: If needed, will start ASAP after obtaining clear results

Time Controls

1.5 hrs + 30 secs increment – All Sections

Byes

1/2 points for rounds 1 to 4 (All sections)

The byes MUST be requested in advance, at the latest prior to the end of the previous round.

Only 2 byes allowed

TOURNAMENT PRIZES – Trophies and Cash Prizes

Open: Trophies + 1 entry boys (if CFC 2200+ by Jan 1, 2018 – then a place in the Invitation section of 2018 Canadian Junior CC)

Open: Trophies + 1 entry girls (if CFC 2000+ by Jan 1, 2018 – then a place in the Invitation section of 2018 Canadian Junior CC)

U-1800: Trophies + 1 entry boys (Open Section* of Canadian Junior CC) + 1 entry girls (Open Section* of Canadian Junior CC)

*The player must reach at least 1801 to play in the Open Section

U-1300: Trophies + 1 entry boys (U-1800 Section** of Canadian Junior CC) + 1 entry girls (U-1800 Section** of Canadian Junior CC)

**The player must reach at least 1301 to play in the U-1800 Section

Coffee and water provided.
Chess equipments and clocks provided.

Pre-Registration will be made available within a week or so.

Registration starts to trickle in. We encourage early registration. Entry fee is very affordable and there is a discount of $ 10 before Jan 1, 2018.

FIDE rated for Open and U1800 section. Where can you get such a good deal ?

Space is limited to 100 players. We will close the registration after we hit 100 players.

First come first serve.

We hope to have your full support from parents and players from Ontario.

Canadian Junior will be held in Humber College, Toronto later in August 8-12, 2017 and WJCC will be held in Turkey in September.
