I have already advised Richard that the WYCC is on a Global rotation. The next opportunity for Canada will be in 2021. The 2018 World Junior is available though, and the bid deadline is March 31 of this year.

It all depends on the expression Global Rotation. North America can easily be considered a continent. The WYCC was never hosted in North America (apart from 1989 i think in USA when the tournament was not official). We will see what FIDE officials has to say in Lausanne during Sport Accord.
Hi Richard - the WYCC is scheduled for Europe in 2018. The competition in Europe will be very keen. China wanted to bid on 2017 but FIDE refused because it was the turn of "FIDE America". Geographically North America is a continent of course (as is Australia and Antarctica), but for FIDE purposes we have Europe, Asia, Africa and America.
