8B POLICY DISCUSSION National Tournaments Committee

National Tournaments Committee policy discussion.

Any update on the following?

1) Canadian Open?
2) Canadian Closed?
3) Canadian Women's Closed?
4) Tournaments funded by the FIDE contribution?

There have been no new developments on any of those fronts.

With respect to the Canadian Open I don't think that it will be organized in Windsor unless there is a breakthrough with some sponsorship. I simply can't be involved enough to make this happen. One of my close relatives is having some serious health problems and that will take up a fair bit of my time in the next few months. If no one else steps forward the CFC will have to organize this along with the Canadian Closed. We have had some expressions of interest in putting on these norm tournaments but nothing is yet clear enough to make any announcements.

We will have to get our receivables down and organize a budget for these tournaments as the present setup is not working.
