Canada - Romania Summer Friendly Match for Junior Players

The Romanian Chess Federation has expressed an interest in playing a Summer Friendly Match with the CFC.
This event is specially designed for mid range junior players, CFC rated from 1400-2000.

Organizer : Chess Federation of Canada
Co-Organizer : Romanian Chess Federation

Venue : playchess.com/chess.com (not finalized yet)

Team Member: each team approx. 40 players under 18 (2002 and younger)
The final number of players will be increase or decrease depends on how many players registered on the Canadian side and how many match players available on the Romanian side.

Time control : 15'+ 10” per move
Rounds : 2 Rounds Team match
First Round will start on 19:00 Bucharest / 12:00 Ottawa time

Players with a rating of 1400 to 2000 can apply, we will use CFC rating, FIDE rating, and any online system rating as our reference for the final selection.
Deadline date for Team compsotion is date : Wednesday Aug 19^th, 2020

We had a total of 40 players (8 Girls and 32 Opens) participate in this event.

Players are from all 12 age categories. This event is specifically designed for players with rating in 1400-2000.
There are few players with exceptional achievement and are approved in this event as well.

CFC would like to congratulate everyone on the Team and you are all doing exceptionally well. As you are playing exciting games, we are actually able to watch some exciting games. This match gave players in all age categories to play two games.

The average FIDE rating of Team Romania is 1580
The average FIDE rating of Team Canada is 1372 (many players have no FIDE rating)

After Round 1, the team match score couldn’t have been closer:
Canada = 18 pts and Romania Team = 22 pts.

Round 2’s team match score was just as close as Round 1’s, but we still fall short: Canada Team = 17.5 pts. and Romania Team = 22.5 pts.

The FINAL TEAM MATCH SCORE, unfortunately we lost by few points.
Canada Team has 35.5 pts. and Romania Team has 44.5 pts.
