Chesstalk has announced that , starting in 2018, tournament ads will cost $20 per tournament or $100 annual subscription.
Does the CFC forum have any plans to do anything similar?

Not as far as I know! And personally I don't see why they would; I would think such advertising costs would be included in your rating fee.
We will never charge for forum tournament announcements of CFC/FQE/FIDE/USCF rated tournaments around the world that might be of interest to our members.
And so it becomes a Happy New Year!
