  1. Hastings Final Results

    When the smoke cleared top rated GM Gawain Jones (English Chess Champion) captured Hastings with a score of 7.5 / 10. Eight players followed with a score of 7. IM Raja Panjwani withdrew after 8 rounds, but at one time(after 7 rounds) was only 1/2 pt out of 1st.

  2. Vandoeuvre International Open (France)

    IM (elect) Aman Hambleton is playing in France. After 7 rounds he has 4.5, but sports a TPR of 2538, and stands to rake in some more rating points. With two rounds to go the leaders are GM Wirig (FRA) and IM Wagner (GER), with 6 points.

    Eric lost his last round game to Istratescu (FRA), who tied for 1st as the other leaders (Grachev, Van Kampen, and Vajda) all drew.

  4. Hansen in Switzerland

    This one escaped my attention. Eric has been playing in the 7rd swiss: Basel Chess Festival. After 6 rounds he is tied for 4th - 1/2 pt behind the leaders - GM's Grachev (RUS), Van Kampen (NED), and Vajda (ROU). In tomorrow's last round he is black against Andre Istratescu (ROU).

  5. Hastings

    Back in the Golden era of Chess and earlier (we'll define this as the 72 Fischer era and earlier part of the century), Hastings was the top name in International chess. Tradition still lives on with some of us, and I always like to have a look at this Christmas event.

    That look now reveals that Canadian IM Raja Panjwani (attending University in London) was one half point behind the leaders after 6 rounds.
