    IM Bindi Cheng is among a handful of Canadians competing in Las Vegas. He currently sits with 2 out of 3 points in the Open Section. Sixteen GM's are participating.

    After 6 Rounds at the Groningen Chess Festival, GM (elect) Eric Hansen has 4 points (2 wins and 4 draws). A full point behind the leaders, he needs a strong finishing kick in his last 3 games. Also playing is IM Leon Piasetski, who has 3 points.
