I would like to welcome you here to this incoming annual general meeting of the CFC voting members for 2019 to 2020. You will be tasked with electing the members of the incoming board of directors along with all of the special officers for the CFC, the foundation, the national appeals committee basically everyone who volunteers to help the CFC fulfill its mission as the governing body for chess in Canada.

We have developed some good forward momentum as a federation. I am sure that everyone will work together to ensure that this forward momentum can be continued into the coming year and beyond. Without further fanfare let us open the meeting and begin our discussions and deliberations.

I will probably appoint Christina Tao to start as usually the youth coordinator serves on this committee and then I will consult with her about appointing additional committee members.

I recommend Felix Dumont be considered. He has been doing a good job soliciting applications for the grants and developing criteria for selection.

In another thread, I accepted Felix's nomination as he had applied after the deadline upon learning of the meeting. We will need to find one more person.

On a personal note, I would like to extend a very special welcome to the incoming executives, officers and members of the Voting Member Assembly - we are expecting a busy year ahead of us and there is much to do.

For those leaving the ranks of the Executive, Officers and Voting Member Assembly on behalf of the Executive I'm sure they won't mind my giving my sincere thanks for your service to chess both in the past and previous years. A lot of the time one tends to feel that one's work doesn't get noticed except when something one does goes awry but organized Chess in Canada exists due to the all too often unsung efforts of TDs, Organizers and Arbiters as well as those who serve on provincial and national boards and I salute you all!
