In the other thread making big offtop, M. Barron offers a new motion (http://www.chesscanada.info/forum/showpost.php?p=2180&postcount=15). While the motion has good will, it is too generous (imho). G. Best has a similar opinion (http://www.chesscanada.info/forum/showpost.php?p=2185&postcount=18) ("it is too vague")

Let's hope, that this year CFC will start to gain financially. However, L.Day is frustrated (http://www.chesscanada.info/forum/showpost.php?p=2053&postcount=2) "What is the point of earning interest if there is no plan to spend anyway?"

Therefore: What's next?

supporting Canadian Closed
to be continued

As I have said many times, the first priority is to stop the finacial bleeding. Only when we have done that will we know what we have to spend. If we start focusing on spending and new projects prematurely, as Michael Barron keeps insisting we do, we will end up in another financial mess. We're close, but not there yet.

That said, there is a lot going on behind the scenes on items like The canadian closed, the CYCC, and more. We keep these things quiet until we actually have outcomes that are worth publicizing. The majority of the Executive does not want to make promises it can't keep. I think our record on this point is excellent.

We would benefit from more people willing to roll up their sleeves and volunteer to get things done. Any takers?!?

This discussion is not how much but for what.

Have you announced open positions?

What do I think the priorities should be? Some indiactors were discussed in my preliminary busienss plan. Junior chess is a huge priotity.

I haven't announced any positions since none are technically open. However, I have recruited volunteers for specific projects. If someone wants to volunteer, I will do my best to find them something to do.
