Happy New Year, one and all! Here's to a safe and prosperous 2013.

I would like to start this report by giving thanks to Larry Bevand and his team for delivering one of the most memorable Canadian Junior Championships seen in years. The pre-tournament favourite, Richard Wang, affirmed his class in edging this strong field. As a result, for the second year in succession, the title makes its home in Alberta. This should add nicely to the bronze medal Richard collected at the WYCC, not to mention the IM title he earned only earlier this year.

My personal story over the past few months has largely revolved around the archives and issues involving them. For the most part, they have now been vetted and sorted, with a few thousand pages now digitized. More documents will come. For the time being, however, the results of these initial efforts can be seen under Membership Statistics (http://chess.ca/membership-stats) (now available back to 1993), Historical CFC Crosstables (http://chess.ca/historical-crosstables) and Historical CFC Ratings and Northern Issues (http://chess.ca/northern). There is another page containing the bulletins from the World Chess Festival, but I anticipate the documents will be undergoing an impending revision, so I have withheld it for now.

As you will notice, our records are incomplete. I am asking you, the governors, to assist me in filling the gaps wherever possible. Incidentally, that includes any articles from the old CFC Webzine that may have been stored locally by some of you.

My other occupation has been the website. I will take a moment here to thank Stephen Wright for his tireless work in assisting with the reconstruction of historical crosstables from championship events, many of which can be found on the Canadian Champions (http://chess.ca/canadian-champions) page. In turn, I have created biographical pages for all of our Canadian Champions, although I have not yet created links to these pages. Other features include FIDE Titleholders (http://chess.ca/fide-titles) and CFC Titleholders (http://chess.ca/titleholders), where new titles for the year 2012 were as follows: Alex Ferreira (NTD and NTO), Atheer Tareeq (NTD), Harris Wang (NTD), Jim Daniluk (NTD), Mike Zeggelaar (NTD), Edward Porper (NTD), Daniel Wiebe (NCM), Stephan Tonakanian (NCM), Christopher Spicer (NCM), Randy Maillet (NCM), Philippe Cliche (NCM), Claude Carrier (NCM), Haizhou Xu (NM), Antoni Wysocki (NM), Elias Oussedik (NM), Istvan Kiraly (NM), Jason Kenney (NM), Geordie Derraugh (NM), Richard Wang (IM), Nikita Gusev (FM), Michael Humphreys (FM), Jackie Peng (WFM), Danny Goldenberg (FA) and Rene Preotu (FA). Title applications that will be resolved later this month include: Eric Hansen (GM), Shiyam Thavandiran (IM), Aman Hambleton (IM) and Bernard Ouimet (FA).

Those that have been watching will also notice that I have added an option to donate to the Chess Foundation of Canada (http://chess.ca/node/1035), SwissAssistant has been added under our Pairing Software (http://chess.ca/pairing-software) page, and, beyond this, I have updated the Handbook with the revisions made during the first half of this term. The "old" Handbook can be found here (http://chess.ca/cfc-handbook-old).

The offerings on the website will continue to expand as the archives are digitized.

In closing, my thanks to the committees reporting back to us at this meeting. They willingly tackled unforgiving portfolios and I trust we will use their findings as a means of moving forward.

Respectfully submitted,

Michael von Keitz

Thnx for the great work on the crosstable front.
I would recommend to dedicated a single webpage for a particular championship (not for decades and more). It will save time when more materials might be added - games, pictures, memories.

Thank you for your suggestion, Egis. I will let you know when I have done so.
