I have the very unpleasant task of advising everyone that effective June 1, 2011, our membership dues and rating fees are being increased due to taxes. :(

As a consequence of the loss of our charitable tax status, we are now required to charge HST/GST on our membership dues and rating fees. This change took place effective February 1, 2011. We have absorbed this cost to date, but it is now time to adjust our dues accordingly. The governors were advised of this pending change at the April 2011 quarterly meeting.

You will find the new rates in the attached PDF file. They will be posted on the website this wednesday with the regular rating update.

The effective date is June 1, 2011. To allow for an easy transition, we will accept membership renewals until June 7th at the old rates, as well as for any tournaments begun before June 1st.

Please note error on attached file. Rating fee for junior tournaments submitted without SwissSys are $ 2.50, not $.50. Thank you to Larry for catching that error on that other board. :)

Does it affect a Life Membership fee?
Can a person pay for a multi-year membership within 7 days and no-tax?

Life memberships will also be taxable.
The grace period of 7 days is only for those renewals due in June and only for a single year.
You wouldn't want to take advantage of the CFC, now would you? :(
