The closed will be in Guelph this year. A big thank you to Hal Bond for stepping forward when nobody else would.

Hal - can you give us a update please. :)

Hal - can you advise us as to the deadline for the next Women's Closed?

The Canadian Closed will run for 6 days in Guelph. At the time of the initial bid, we could only book space for 5 days, ie May 7-11. Since that time we were able to secure the venue for Friday May 6, which allows 3 days of single rounds and 3 days of double rounds.

At the moment we are very close to securing sponsorship which will permit the broadcast and full coverage by Mon Roi. Fingers crossed!

As for the Women's Zonal, you may recall that the 2009 event was staged at the Kitchener Chess Festival (early August) with the understanding that the World's would take place in the first half of 2010. This date was then moved to December of 2010.

FIDE has advised that the next Women's World Championship tournament will take place in the second half of 2012, in Khanty Mansiysk. No firm dates yet.

How many players?

Is there any dedicated website? The http://www.chess.ca/canclosed.shtml does not provide any link or a list of preregistered players.
