After the first 24 hrs of the meeting, we already have had 27/60 governors in attendance ( 45 % ) - last meeting we had over 60 % - Can we beat that record this time??

The following 3 governors attended but forgot to sign in ( or decided not to for some reason ):

David Lavin
Garland Best
Rick Pedersen

In a bit over a day and a quarter of meeting, we have already surpassed the 50% governor attendance mark ( 32/60 governors have attended ).

On Sat., Oct. 2 , 2 governors attended who did not " sign in ":

David Moore
Ellen Nadeau

By the end of Saturday, 33/60 governors ( 55 % ) had attended. Our goal is to beat the Spring Quarterly ( April ) record of a bit over 60 %. Will we do it??

If you are a provincial representative governor, and one of your co-governors from your province has not attended yet, how about giving them a shout, and encouraging them to participate?

As of 11:59 PM EDT on Sunday, Oct. 3, we reached the governor attendance mark of 62% ( 37/60 governors ) !! This surpasses the attendance record of 60% set at the Spring Quarterly ( April ) Governors On-line Meeting.

This is a significant participation rate, and shows that the governors are serious about their role of governance.

After almost 3 full days of meeting, we have reached the governor attendance mark of 65% ( 39/60 governors ) !!

This surpasses the attendance record of 60% set at the Spring Quarterly ( April ) Governors On-line Meeting.

After almost 5 full days of meeting, our governor attendance has risen to 67% - 40 out of 60 governors are present !!

Can we make it to 70%?? If you know a governor who has not yet attended, drop them a quick line to say how well the meeting is going, and invite them to come on over and see for themselves.

With the entry of Lynn Stringer, who has had to leap hurdles to get here ( congratulations Lynn for your stick-to-it-iveness ), we have now made it to 68% attendance ( 41/60 governors ) !!

38 governors have signed in, and 3 ( David Lavin, Rick Pedersen, and Richard Keep ) have attended but have failed to formally sign in - total - 41 governors !

And for voting, one vote is almost at 75% of governors attending having voted!

I think the meeting is already a great success, as was our April meeting. The procedures have not been perfect, but the car is running pretty smoothly.

Governors may have noticed that there have not been a lot of discussion posts today, despite Lyle this morning having posted the agenda item summaries. This may wrongly lead some governors to conclude that attendance at the meeting has now waned.

Using the " Members' List " feature of this board, it shows that in fact, to 10:00 PM EDT tonight, fully 71 % of the governors present visited this meeting TODAY - 29 out of 41 governors.

So governors are actively monitoring the meeting, checking out how the voting is going on the four motions still under vote, and viewing the posts that are still being made, though they themselves now have little more to say generally, and no longer are posting very often.

So this slightly more than 3 days of voting, to allow all, given their busy schedules, to vote, is still being used constructively by the majority of governors.

The pace will pick up tomorrow I expect, since Motion 2011A is to be posted for voting at 5:00 PM EDT( it is being posted somewhat in advance of the scheduled time since I will be going out of town around then ). There will likely be a flurry of posts under the discussion thread, prior to the voting:

Item # 20B - Motion 2011-A - Activity Rule for Life Governors - for discussion

Today, to 3:00 PM EDT, only 17 governors have visited the Meeting. Voting on Motion 2010-03 as amended goes on 'til 11:00 PM EDT ( voting has been rather light - 17/41 governors have voted - less than 50% of those attending ). Don't forget Bob G's Closing Address is at 11:59 PM tonight.

But I think it is most important that we realize what a step forward the on-line meeting has been, compared to the GL system. We have had almost 70% attendance during the first week of the meeting ( the originally scheduled length ). Governors have never shown before such participation. So it must be kept in perspective, if participation drops somewhat when the meeting starts to go from 7 days to 12 days - also there are less posts, and so not as great an incentive to return to the meeting. As well, when governors have voted on the final motion, they have done their bit, and so may then move back into their normal schedule.

In this regard, it is important to note we have now had our 42nd governor attend, though he has not yet formally signed in: Maurice Smith. This brings our governor attendance to a record high of 70 % ( 42/60 )!

Bob ( as ordinary governor, not posting secretary )
