The World Seniors Championship caught my attention when I was asked to investigate a complaint about the 2008 rendition during the Dresden Olympiad. This event is quite competitive and as an official FIDE tournament, organizers provide accommodation and lodging for Federation representatives.

David Cohen organized a 50+ Seniors Championship as an active tournament in the recent past and I believe this Championship belongs on the CFC calendar too. So this year as part of the Kitchener Chess Festival, the Canadian Seniors Championship will qualify its winner to the World Seniors Championship in Arco Italy. Whether you are a contender for the title or simply look forward to some good chess with your peers I hope you can join us at Kitchener City Hall on July 30 - August 2.
